The St. Elizabeth Seton Conference, part of the Naples District Council of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Naples, has as its mission to serve God through helping the poor here in Collier County, and especially in Golden Gate.  Census totals show that the highest levels of poverty in Collier County are within the parish boundaries of St. Elizabeth Seton.  Our conference members devote themselves, through work and prayer, to bringing help with respect  to those living in poverty within our area.  To us, it is a call from God to do his work.

Our St. Elizabeth parish has faced and overcome difficult obstacles in the past 16 months.  Hurricane Irma left our parish campus with significant damage.  Our main sanctuary needed significant repair and our parish center had its roof torn off.  Mass was temporarily (six months) held in the school gymnasium until repairs to the church were completed on Easter  Sunday 2018.  Through it all our parish brothers and sisters responded with resolve and generosity, donating over $150,000 in order to rehabilitate the buildings. Our parish is “Alive in His Spirit” and offers welcoming  liturgical services and programs to help strengthen our faith in God.

We also welcomed a new parish administrator, Father Casey Jones in November of 2018.  Our parish family looks forward with eager anticipation of the many blessings that God will bring us on our journey of faith.

Our Society helps all people regardless of any qualifiers including religious beliefs.

According to the latest census report, Golden Gate City, which is basically the boundary of our parish, has:

The lowest per capita income in Collier County;
The lowest level of education ( less than seven out of ten residents have completed high school) in Collier County;
The highest percentage of non-English speaking citizens  (nearly 60% non-English speaking) in Collier County;
The highest rate of unemployment in Collier County (nearly 30%).

Faced with these kinds of factors only drives our volunteers to pray for the guidance of our Lord in finding solutions to this poverty.  Between fundraising and assistance from the Naples District Council, our conference provided nearly $67,000 in financial assistance in Golden Gate in our last fiscal year.

When we have asked, our parish family has responded. We will always work to grow the Kingdom of God through helping His people in need.

Joining SVdP and becoming a Vincentian is so much more than volunteering or collecting food.  It is a commitment to seek a closer relationship with God, by helping the poor through the teachings of Jesus Christ.  We ask that you prayerfully consider joining our efforts.
